Lambda Core: Source is a narrative-driven Half-Life / Touhou crossover project exploring how atmosphere, environmental storytelling, exploration, and gameplay can work together inside playable spaces.
Rather than relying heavily on exposition or traditional cutscenes, the project aims to communicate its narrative through world design, atmosphere, player observation, gameplay events, and environmental detail.
The current remake is being developed as a playable Source Engine project, with the crossover itself serving as a central part of the game's world, atmosphere, and narrative direction.
Show, don't tell.
Let the world speak for itself.
The goal is not simply to place two franchises together, but to explore how their different identities can interact through gameplay, level design, atmosphere, and environmental storytelling.
The remake is currently in active development using Mapbase on Source SDK 2013.
Development is progressing chapter by chapter, allowing individual sections of the project to be developed, tested, and refined before moving on to larger portions of the campaign.
Earlier atmosphere and level-flow experiments were explored through Garry's Mod prototypes.
These prototypes helped establish environmental storytelling, route design, atmosphere, pacing, and world layout before the project moved toward its current Mapbase / Source SDK 2013 implementation.

The project prioritizes gameplay, atmosphere, exploration, accessibility, environmental storytelling, and sustainable development over cutting-edge rendering features.
The goal is to build a playable experience first and a technology showcase second.
Lambda Core is currently open to contributors interested in helping shape future development.
This is an unpaid hobby project.
